Statement:  Every ring with unit has a (two sided)  prime  ideal.(An ideal \(P\) in a ring \(R\) is prime if \(P \neq  R\)  and  for  anyideals \(A\) and \(B\) in \(R\), if \(AB \subseteq  P\) then \(A \subseteq  P\) or\(B\subseteq P\).)  Blass [1986] and Banaschewski [1985].
